Description
In A City is Always Near, Rodríguez’s speaker traverses cities and plains in the hopes of finding not only who he is, but the meaning behind his place and purpose in the world. Whether on the streets of London or at a resort in the Dominican Republic, we are given a glimpse of the nuances one faces when they are outside of their comfort zone, and with honesty that is lyrically precise and engaging, Rodríguez shows us how our connection with a place can offer us a chance to cherish what is often times fleeting.
Esteban Rodríguez is the author of five poetry collections, most recently The Valley (Sundress Publications, 2021), and the essay collection Before the Earth Devours Us (Split/Lip Press, 2021). He is the interviews editor for the EcoTheo Review, senior book reviews editor for Tupelo Quarterly, and associate poetry editor for AGNI. He lives in central Texas.
